Laurie Collins Marine in Westhaven had a change of ownership on June 1st 2009. With a new look and almost new team, you will notice the difference when you go to Laurie Collins Westhaven Ltd. A fresh look has been created with new building signage, a new logo and inviting offices.

Laurie Collins has always been one of New Zealand's premium brokerage locations, on one of the largest marinas in the southern hemisphere with over 2,000 boats on the doorstep. Westhaven Marina is centrally located, just minutes from the C.B.D. at 103 Westhaven Drive, Westhaven, under Sails restaurant, where parking is not a problem!

We have an archive of boats listed and sold over the last 25 years, so there are not many boats we don't know about. Wayne Baston, the Managing Director, is keen to make the difference with your buying experience. We have a great team and we are keen to please and go the extra distance to give the customer value for money.

We have looked at the way we do business and decided on an approach where we have people specialising in their area of knowledge, so we can maximise the benefit to the customer.

We are also now specialising in multi hulls, power and sail, and we are delighted to have Greg Steinbeck taking charge of that division. So we are keen for more listings to help the success of our new direction.

We now have a RIB to assist staff an customers on the water. Getting the best pictures to present your boat at its best.

Wayne wants to offer clients, and the boating public, marine services such as boat grooming and detailing. Our valet department will make the difference to the look of your boat. This can be a one-off or we can look after your boat on an ongoing basis. A lot of our clients are having their boat valet before they list them with us. This adds value and helps to get a good result sooner for a reasonable cost, considering the value of your investment.

Laurie Collins also offers yacht and launch deliveries, coastal and off-shore, with professional skippers.

We are also looking for one more member to join our Sales team, to sell used yachts from our office in Westhaven. Boating experience and knowledge would be an advantage.

KEN ASHWELL - COROMANDEL

As a resident of more than twelve years on the Eastern seaboard of the Coromandel, I am keen to assist those vessel owners in the Thames Coromandel from Whangamata to Whitianga.

I feel sure that my business acumen and my life long love of the sea, boating, diving and fishing will help me with the marketing of our client's vessels, up and down this stunning coast line.

With an extensive knowledge of boating, not only from my personal experience, but also from the knowledge gained from having been part of the Coast Guard, the construction of my own launch, many years ago and the many boats and launches owned, maintained and renovated since, combined with my twenty year background in sales and marketing, I believe, will enable me to assist our clients with the sale and purchase of their vessels.

DAVID MAIR - OPUA - BAY OF ISLANDS

David Mair, the manager of The Marina Shop at Opua Marina, has over 55 years boating experience in New Zealand, the Pacific and the Mediterranean. The Mair family have 'salt in their veins'. For 12 years David owned and operated Dinghy Developments Ltd and produced 6000 Seabird Dinghies.

David is a qualified Marine Engineer, boat builder and for 10 yeaqrs he operated varios Game fishing Charter boats in Tonga and Fiji.

I am a keen boatie and have had boats and launches of one type oranother most of my life. I enjoy game and recreational fishing. A member of the RNZYS for many years and enjoy living in the local area,not far from Westhaven.

Greg Stenbeck - Multihull Division

greg_profile A lifetime of boating from Sabots at 6 years to a Multi hull Power Cat 53 years later. In between time racing in P Class, Hobie Cats, Townson 32 our oasis 'Birdsal Magic', and 'Arethust Farr 38 Angstrom', then great success in Australia in the Eighties with a Laurie Davidson 780 built by Ian Franklin.

Then had a string of self built or finished boats culminating in the current Roger Hill Power Cat built in partnership and launched in Nov 08. I am part of a crew of 4 that specialises in power boat deliveries to Australia, the Pacific and beyond. I have a particular passion for Multi hulls - The future of boating!

Graham Watson

Involved in yachting since the age of 11. Came up through the Flying Ant's, Cherub's, 16 foot skiffs. Spent 5 years in the R Class eventually winning the National's in 1982, having built several of these challenging boats. Moved on to 12 foot skiffs and Javelin's before stepping out of the dinghy's and into club keelboat racing. Now with 14,000 ocean miles across both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and an enthusiasm for all things boating.

I love talking to people about their boating experiences and aspirations, adding constructively to those critical decisions when making a boat choice.
Talking it through, is what we do.

LACHLAN WILKINSON

lachlan Having come from a very keen yachting family, my interest in boating continued into my adult years and at the age of 25, I founded my own boating business called Ownaship which right from the start was very successful and has continued to prosper over the last five years.

Having the opportunity after this time to sell my shareholding in the company I did so very recently at a point where the company had prospered to over 70 owners in a variety of boats. This has now left me free to pursue sales which is the aspect of boating I enjoy the most and mixing in the boating fraternity.

My years in Ownaship managing boats have given me a good grounding in all types of boats and I feel I am well placed now to move forward at Laurie Collins and assist boaties with the vessel that best suits their needs. I look forward to doing so.
